He was born 19 Dec 1926 in DeKalb the son of Clifford and Alice T. (Magnusson) Braffet. He married Alberta M. Griswold 30 Jul 1947 in Sandwich, Illinois. Pat was formerly employed by Del Monte in DeKalb and then by Caterpillar where he retired after 33 years as well as farming his family farm. He was a square dance caller for 30 years and also taught square dancing. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb. Pat was a Boy Scout leader for Troop # 19, was the supervisor of Pierce Township and enjoyed taking trips on his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife, Alberta; his four sons, Gary (Vicky) Braffet of DeKalb, Craig (Patti) Braffet of Hinckley, Jim (Sue) Braffet of Sandwich, Curtis (Peggy) Braffet of Carlock; 10 grandchildren, Steffanie, Terry, Chris, Gerry, Kelli, Amy, Julie, Meghan, Kristen, Kayla; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, 12 Nov at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. 4th St. in DeKalb. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Anderson Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the James C. "Pat" Braffet Memorial Fund in care of Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, DeKalb, Illinois 60115. Mrs. Braffet was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in DeKalb, Illinois. She was a longtime member of the Sugar Squares, Square Dancing Club. Alberta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Vicky) Braffet of DeKalb, Illinois, Craig (Patti) Braffet of Hinckley, Illinois, Jim (Sue) Braffet of Sandwich, IL and Curtis (Peggy) Braffet of Carlock, IL; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Lorraine (Marion) Griswold of Yorkville, IL; her sisters, Leona Meade of Phoenix, AZ, Marcella Johnson of Sandwich, Illinois, and Marian Hester of Yorkville, Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Catherine Griswold; her husband, James "Pat" Braffet; and her brother, Gerald Griswold. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, 29 Nov 2011 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 North Maple Street in Hinckley, Illinois. Interment will be private. Friends may visit from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, 29 Nov 2011 at the Funeral Home in Hinckley, Illinois.
