Family lore has it that Charles stopped being a Doctor and took up surveying after the Civil War, because he had wittnessed some carnage in the field hospitals of the day. I have been unable to document any formal association with a regiment, but there were many volunteers who "doctored" and one source says he was a Chicamagua. Anne Rodgers. PS. Edwin was a fanatic genealogist and I have much of his writing on the subject."
