Mr Holcomb, a retired manager for the Standard Oil Co of Atlanta, died Wednesday. He resided at 110 Jayne Ellen Court in Alpharetta. Mr Holcomb was a member of the Touchdown Club, a graduate of Oglethorpe University and a member of Alpha Lambda Tau fraternity. He was a member of the Optimist Club of Atlanta. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Louise Thomas Holcomb of Alpharetta; a daughter, Mrs Starling Voigt of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Mrs C T Drake of Atlanta; and a brother, Emory Holcomb Jr, also of Atlanta."

!REFERENCE: 2015 obituary for granddaughter Brenda Drake Wood, "Brenda Drake Wood, age 74, of Dalton, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2015, at her residence while surrounded by her family. She was born November 19, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia. Brenda was a member of First Baptist Church of Dalton for 33 years. A 1958 graduate of Northside High School in Atlanta, Georgia, she attended Mercer University and later graduated Magna Cum Laud from Kennesaw State University in 1996. After serving as the Secretary for Dug Gap Baptist Church for many years, she was employed with Dalton Public Schools as the Human Resources secretary for 20+ years. She retired form Whitfield County Schools in 2006. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Thomas Drake and Ira Belle Drake of Atlanta, Georgia. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack Marion Wood; daughters and sons in law, Beth and Mark, Kathy and Steve; sons and daughters in law, Cliff and Kelli and Nathan and Brooke; seven grandchildren; sister in law, Virginia Wood Anderson; nephews and nieces. The family received friends Saturday, August 15, 2015 in the Atrium of First Baptist Church of Dalton from 2 p.m. to 5.p.m. with the funeral service immediately following in the Sanctuary with Dr. Bill Ireland and Reverend Larry Flanagan officiating. Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to the First Foundation and/or First Baptist Church, Dalton, Georgia."
