!REFERENCE: 13-Nov-2008 email from Harley Waggoner to Don Braffitt "Hello, my name is Harley Waggoner and I am researching my grandmother's lineage. Her name was Louisa Jane Forbus and her father was Richard Forbus and mother was Mary C. Fain. She had a sister named Mary Elizabeth, and a brother named William. I knew they were orphans and have just returned from Carthage, Shelby Co. Texas with the info that I had been looking for for the past 3 years. I obtained copies of a probate from the county clerk's office that shows her father and mother died between 1852 & 1854. The guardian appointed was a Josiah Fain listed as 'uncle'. He was barely 21 at the time. He shows to be Mercer Fain's son and was born in 1833. He boarded them out but looks like he did not collect all the money (just over 300.00) for the personal items he sold, most on credit. He then took them to Hopkins County, and someone raised them and so far we have not found that person. My grandfather, Luther Waggoner, married Louisa Jane Forbus in 1866 (his 2nd wife) and she died in 1930. Her sister, Mary Elizabeth, married a T.J. Walls and she died 1935 and lived in Abilene, Tx. Her death cert. filled out by one of her daughters, Kate Walls, listed her father as Richard Forbus and mother's maiden name as Mary C. Fain. We have not yet found anything on her brother, William A. Forbus. I just thought that you might could help me solve the mystery as to why we cannot find Mary C. Fain anywhere. If you have anything on this, I would certainly like to hear from you. Regards, Harley Waggoner."
