!REFERENCE: RootsWeb - Campbell416, William Coleman "Callie" Campbell, "William Coleman Cameron Campbell was born in Salem, Virginia, June 2, 1808. His father (who I'm not yet sure of) was born in Ireland. His mother was born in Virginia. he married Elizabeth A. M. "Betty" Stephens, who was born in (Salem?) Virginia on Aug 23, 1810. By 1839 they were living in eastern Tennessee, where he was a circuit-riding preacher. Over the following years they lived in various parts of eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and possibly back into Giles, Virginia. He finally settled in Macon County, North Carolina sometime in the late 1850's. The children of Coley and Betty were: Joseph, Sarah, George, Charles, Canara, John, and Thomas. Canara died at about 2 years of age. Although John and George left Macon County for short periods of time, and Joseph and George served in the Civil War, all the children settled in Macon County. Four of the Campbell boys married Byrd girls."
