!REFERENCE: 2008 obituary for daughter Frieda JoAnn Franklin, "FRANKLIN Mrs. Freida JoAnn Franklin, age 74 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, June 20, 2008, at her home. JoAnn was born February 5, 1934, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas H. and Celesta Opal Coon Simpson, both deceased. On May 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Artie Duane Franklin, who survives at the home. JoAnn was a graduate of Milan High School, Milan, Mo., and Quincy Beauty Academy, Quincy, Illinois. She was employed with the Missouri Adjutant General's Office and later with the Missouri Dept. of Revenue until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693. As a winter resident of South Texas, her activities included Chairman of the Ladies Day Luncheon, Card Club, and Choir Director. A few of her many passions include sewing, quilting, singing, dancing, and most important to her, her family. "Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her" Proverbs 31:28 Other survivors include: three daughters, Jacquelyn Davidson and her husband Kenneth of Wildwood, Mo., Jannette Dunnavant-Crow and her husband John of Jefferson City, Mo., and Jillelyn Talken and her husband Paul of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sons, Roderick Franklin and his wife Sara of Holts Summit, Mo. and James Franklin Storm and his wife Dianne of Prescott, Arizona; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, and a grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2008, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Chris Dumas and the Reverend Chris Crouch officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 11-1 p.m. Monday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society.
