I spent many a happy summer with grama in Cayucos. The 1913 date of her first marriage is correct, but the last name of her husband was Kenneth "Ruth" rather than "Ruff". He died in, I believe, 1918 during the Great Flu Epidemic, as he was already in a weakened condition due to having sustained smoke inhalation, while fighting a wildfire in their grain fields."
