!REFERENCE: 22-Feb-1940 The Clayton Tribune, Rabun, GA, page 1, "A number of citizens were here from around Tallulah Falls last Monday, and we asked them about the story, published some time ago, in regard to a wild man who stays in a rock cliff in the Tallulah Gorge. They say it is a fact and that the man was reared near Tallulah Falls and that his name is Virgil Ledford. He has been down in the gorge for about 15 years and never comes out in day time. It is supposed that he visits a sister at night and that probably she furnishes him with some clothing and supplies. They say that those whose who have seen the cave where he stays reports that he has leaves and old gunny sacks in the cave where he sleeps. Sometime we are going down and look that fellow up if we can find him. It is reported that one has to slip up on him or he will hide from anyone who passes along.
