""Uncle Joe"" Rekowski, 76, of Woodville-Alton Road, Hope Valley, R.I., died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 at the Westerly Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Naylor) Rekowski. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 5, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Edna (Braffett) Rekowski. Joe was employed at Electric Boat in Groton, Conn., for over 40 years before retiring as a nuclear inspector. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and Bay of Pigs. He was a life member of the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District and had served as deputy chief. He was a life member of the NRA. He was a good father, husband, brother, grandpa, and uncle. He loved fishing, hunting, and cooking, and sharing these with his kids and grandkids. He loved being with his family and making ""Gram's"" special recipes. Joe coached Little League, was a Webelo leader, and always attended sports activities. Besides his loving wife of over 47 years, he will be sadly missed by his children, Steven J. Rekowski, of Colorado; and Tanya L. Doucette, of North Providence, R.I. He was the loving grandfather of Trystan Rekowski, of Colorado; Lillian Horton Rekowski, of Indiana; and Marissa Doucette, of North Providence. He was the brother of Arlene Nash and Edna Robinson, both of Florida; John J. Rekowski, of Arkansas; and Richard Randall, of Hope Valley, R.I. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Barton. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Dec. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Donations may be made to the Joseph R.
