!REFERENCE: 2017 obituary for grandson Alfred Q. Isaacson, "Alfred Q. Isaacson, March 1, 1943 ~ February 9, 2017 (age 73). Alfred Q. Isaacson, age 73, of Longmeadow, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Becky Rosendahl Isaacson, devoted and proud father of one son, Daniel, and greatly loved and missed by his dogs, Ralph and Gracie. Al was born in Lynn, MA on March 1, 1943 to the late John and Lillian Isaacson. He graduated from Lynn High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Clemson University. After working as a designer at General Electric in Boston and as a teacher in Florida, Al found his true calling and professional career as a designer of pipe organs and was employed as vice president of Austin Organs, Inc. in Hartford, CT for over 30 years. He had the unique ability to do artistic renderings of church interiors that were the envy of organ builders across the country.  Al’s favorite place in his home was the basement where in his workroom he would fix just about anything and always had several projects going at the same time. His favorite project being the creation of artistic organ pipe displays. On the other side of the basement were his 1950’s American Flyer trains in the village of Fluvanna which delighted and entertained everyone who came to his home. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as the carillonneur for 33 years, a church trustee, Chairman of the Board of the Trinity Nursery School and Kindergarten, maintainer of the church’s website, and lighting designer for the annual Boar’s Head Festival. He could be found every Sunday morning sitting in his favorite chair next to the organ console controlling the Sanctuary lights, turning pages and serving as the best assistant any organist could ever have. Al will be especially remembered for his smiling eyes, quick wit, gentleness and kindness. He was predeceased by his sister Karen Isaacson Thys. In addition to his son, Daniel, he is survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, 4 nephews and 3 nieces. He mentored and had a special bond with Stephen Potvin and Nathan Delong, and was a pal and good friend of Edith Dorang. A service of celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Avenue in Springfield, MA 01108. It will be followed by a reception in Asbury Hall. Memorial contributions in Al’s name may be made to the music fund of Trinity United Methodist Church or to Thomas J. O’Conner Animal Shelter, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.", https://www.forastiere.com/tributes/Alfred-Isaacson
