!REFERENCE: 10-Feb-2016 Atlanta Journal-Constitution obituary, "James Mathew COOK Sr., 1937 - 2016, COOK, Sr., James Mathew "Jim" On the morning of February 6, 2016 Jim passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. While his health steadily declined, his spirit, and faith remained constant. Jim was 78 years old. Jim was born in Chamblee, Georgia on March 4, 1937, one of eight children born to Daisy Mae Blackwell Cook and Charles Cleaborn Cook. In his professional life Jim served as the Human Resource Administrator for Plantation Pipe Line. Even though he was twenty years retired, he did not slow down. Jim was active in his neighborhood, community, and was a Deacon Emeritus at his Church, Johns Creek Baptist. He was a steadfast friend, loving husband and father, and proud grandfather. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Daisy Mae and Cleaborn Cook. His three brothers, Charles Cook, Thomas Cook, and Loy Cook, and three of his sisters, Mary New, Dorothy Braffitt, and Betty Cook. Jim is survived by his wife, Imogene, his daughters, Julie Cook and Jennifer Nelms, his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Keri Cook, his granddaughter, Caroline Cook, his sister, Barbara Beiter, and his friend and confidant, his dog, Katie. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Johns Creek Baptist Church, Alpharetta, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m..
