!REFERENCE: 28-Dec-2002 Delaware State News, Dover, DE, obituary for husband Robert George Short, "STILL POND, Md. - Robert George "Bob" Short of Still Pond died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in Magnolia Hall Nursing Center. He was 79. Mr. Short was born Oct. 7, 1923, in New Haven, Conn., son of the late William and Luella Hearns Short. He graduated high school in New Haven and attended Yale University. Mr. Short enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II as a communications expert with the Atlantic Fleet. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Geneieve Beatrice Archambeault in 1948 and resided in North Hampton, Mass. Mr. Short worked as a retail distribution manager with Sperry and Hutchinson for 25 years, retiring in the early 1980s. In 1998, he and his wife moved to Still Pond. He enjoyed golfing. Mr. Short was a member of the Naval Retirees Organization. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Harold Francis Short of North Hampton, William Richard Short of Still Pond and Lawrence John Short of Colonial Heights, Va.; four daughters, Mary Ann Lynde of Springfield, Joan Pieri of Fort Myers, Fla., Dolores Ashlaw of Holyoke, Mass., and Linda Davidson of Wheeling, W.Va.; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends may call from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Burial will be in Still Pond Cemetery. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home Chestertown."
