!REFERENCE: 06-Nov-2024 Boston Globe, Boston, MA obituary, "MOSHER, Thelma Ann Of Wellesley and West Falmouth, MA, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on November 5, 2024.
Mrs. Mosher was the adored wife of the late Giles E. Mosher, Jr. They met as high school sweethearts, married and built a beautiful life and family together for nearly 60 years. There was nothing more important to Thelma than family. It was her greatest joy and enduring legacy.
She was the loving mother of six children, Mary Beth Grimm and her husband, James of Wellesley, Susan Mosher and her husband, Thomas MacDonald of Wellesley, Michelle Cibotti and her husband, Craig Comins of Canton, Giles E. Mosher, III and his wife, Susan of Dover, Alison Birmingham and her husband, Stephen of Dover and Caitlyn Ellis and her husband, Jason of Wellesley. A cherished mom mom to her eight grandchildren, A.J. and his wife, Nicole, Ryan and his partner, Kacie Lang and Meagan Grimm and her fiancé, Devin Joyce, Kristin Cibotti and her husband, Rory, Giles E., IV and his wife, Emily and Robert Mosher; Grace and Liza Birmingham. The doting great-grandmother of Austin and Zoë. Thelma is also survived by her sister, Marion McGurk of Marlborough; and several nieces and nephews.
A woman of strong Catholic faith, she instilled that in each of her children. Over the years she was an involved parent at St. John's School, Ursuline Academy and Newton Country Day School.
Along with Giles, Thelma co-chaired the inaugural Parents Council at Boston College. Involved in many charitable endeavors, she also served as a board member of the Perpetual Benevolent Fund. Thelma was a Dame of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
Thelma was an avid gardener, taking great pride in her beautiful Cape Cod hydrangeas and roses. Her many Cape Cod summers afforded her countless beachside days and beautiful sunsets that she loved to share with family.
She was a gifted children's story writer and often used her beloved Goldendoodle, Charlie, as inspiration. Thelma was the ultimate hostess and loved having family and friends for any and every occasion. She also enjoyed tennis and paddle tennis as an active member of Brae Burn Country Club. We will be forever grateful to Bernadette for the care and kindness she provided to our mother. We were greatly blessed to have had our mom and mom mom. We will miss her always and carry her forever in our hearts.
Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., WELLESLEY, on Friday, November 8, from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, November 9, at 10am,, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley, at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Newton Cemetery.
